Art Masterpost ~ AO3

Author's Notes: Written for this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang based on a prompt by the supremely talented and lovely [livejournal.com profile] soulmatecest, who has been an utter joy to collaborate with and has created such amazing art to accompany this story. The prompt was one that I connected to the second I saw it, without even really understanding why, and all I'm hoping for with this fic is that she thinks I did it even a little bit justice. Here is to more collaboration in the future! GO CHECK OUT THE ART POST NOW!!

Special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] ephermeralk, who has acted as my medical advisor and beta on this project, and has been an absolute godsend to me. Anything that sounds even remotely intelligent in here is likely thanks solely to her, and if anything is wrong, blame it totally on my own romance-fueled creative license!

Thank you to my beloved [livejournal.com profile] fiercelynormal for the beta, brainstorming, and guidance, my zabuds [livejournal.com profile] riyku & [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte and the rest of my girls for the 10 hour writing session, and the gang of amazing mods that run the RBB comm!

this was sUCH a beautiful story. Having worked with soulmatecest, I knew the art and the prompt was going to make a great story. But honestly, everything down to chad crying (WHICH WAS HORRIFYING CHAD SHOULD NEVER BE IN PAIN EVER GOD) and the christmas party to danneel's little girl was spot on by way of pulling at my heartstrings. AMAZING work, gurl!

Thank you so much! And YES, Pao is the most delightful human being and I hope we get to work together a million times in the future. OH MAN, CHAD. Haha, I think that was the very first scene I pitched to Pao. I was like "SO I'M GOING TO MAKE CHAD CRY" and she was like "NoooooOOOOOOooooooooo but YessSSSssss" lol

Stories with permanent disabilities or injuries are my bane--I *hate* them, but I can't *not* read them. You didn't falter on this one. The horror and shock is all there, and denial and body horror, resistance to accepting and moving on. The phrase "new life," and all it implies always turns my stomach, but here Jared does make it through, does stand again, and Jensen is there to help. I loved this. Thank you so much.

I'm so glad that it worked for you, it means a lot! I tried to be as sensitive and respectful as I could with the subject matter, and researched a lot before I even started writing. And then of course [livejournal.com profile] ephermeralk was an absolute hero and helped me make sure the medical stuff wasn't too offensively wrong lol.

Thanks so much for reading <3

Really great story, and thanks for posting to AO3 right away so I could devour it last night in bed on my kindle. Such a challenging and heartbreaking topic and I thought you handled it really well. The shock, devastation, and loss coupled with the humour and hope seemed perfect. I definitely got a little weepy over Chad's breakdown (who knew I'd ever cry over Chad!?!). Awesome stuff. <3

Everyone should cry over Chad haha! I'm so very happy you enjoyed it, thanks so much <3

I have words. I can get them out, but I have words.

I hope they are all good words haha! <3

Well done on tackling such a sensitive subject so deftly. i loved that you made Jared already such a damaged boy, it made his healing so much more poignant and fulfilling.

Thanks so much! I tried to do a lot of research to try to make it as realistic and respectful as possible (while still allowing for the schmoop, you know lol). <3

So I am finally getting a moment to leave my comment. :)

I was so moved by your work. The agony and emotions jared went through just about gutted me. I was so happy that jensen was there to help him and begin the process of Jared's return of feelings. The most powerful moment for me was when Chad had his night terrors and jared finally made his choice to actively work towards his recovery.

Omg and how can I forget Rosey's anguish. Woman, you srsly tore my heart apart in such a concise fic. I didn't need chapters and tons of back story to know how much Toms death affected Rosey. ( I like calling him this even tho it doesn't seem right for an army man lol ) it really hurt to see all the boys hurt but it made my joy at Jared's recovery that much happier. So yay for your fic. I really really enjoyed it. I wish I could just hug you and maybe keep you in a corner to write me lots of fic! Lol

Thanks for continually sharing your inspiration in this fandom and may j2 always be on your mind! ^_~

As you know already, I loved the CRAP out of this - such a great pacing and such raw emotion that you handled quite well!
