Neither the link or the Home Page is loading for me, but I cannot stand the thought of being late to the comment train! So I thought I'd say that the pacing of that gif and their expressions make it look like they're standing their creaming themselves with the brotherly frottage. Then Dean backs away with a falseley enthusiastic, "Okay then. Good job! Burgers?" look.
First off: I am now imagining Crowley singing "Music of the Night."
"Nighttime sharpens, blah blah blah blah, BLAH BLAH!" (Second, of course, to him starting to call Kevin 'Christine' - which would make for kink_meme material)
Also? I am so glad I wasn't alone in thinking that the hell girl looked like Genevieve. (Although it would've been SO COOL to see Ruby in Purgatory/Hell. I stand by my pipe dream of Purgatory being this huge story arch with Ruby and Azazel and random angels running around while Dean tries to escape them and Sam tries to rescue Dean and...)
Anyway - somebody on the casting crew has a thing for those tiny brunettes with the thick hair, doe eyes and high cheekbones.
I can no longer blame Jared's preferences alone for taking a guy who is balls to the wall in love with a blonde Amazonian goddess and turning him into the guy who only gets it up for the raven haired, wood nymph type. Like - it is a small thing to get irked over, but really? It makes me disbelieve in the pure love of Jess/Sam if she wasn't his 'type.' And if she wasn't his bag o' bones du jour, then it negates his... Never mind. I remember what show I'm watching now.
Benny really did have the best part of this whole episode. I'm ignoring the taxi driver because he is so not cool enough to have worked for Death and he is not on Tessa's level. And what does a reaper need from the king of Hell anyway? Is he disgruntled that Death has him reaping in a place with some seriously clean graffiti? Is he pissed that there are no giant wangs when he is chasing fares in the red light district?
(I'm just going to ignore the fact that he is corporeal at all and pretend that he is wandering around visible because he hates his job and is trying to get fired.)
I would've been way more stoked if they killed the 'rogue reaper' part and just called him a coyote instead. After all, not all tricksters are angels in disguise, right?
How do you even say what is the worst part of the episode? I haven't been this mad about a retcon since the Brady ep where we find out YED didn't kill Jess, and that was just ONE thing, not entire seasons worth of stuff lol
I don't know :( But hey - Silver Lining: it is easy to find the good parts of the episode because the rest of it was a mixer making canon pudding.
(I'm ashamed to admit you caught some canon mistakes that I even missed.)
Also - where the hell did that Prince Charming guy come from that you keep putting in your recaps? I see him in gifs and such when I troll through ONTD, and I don't know where it came from.
Ha! I bet I missed some as well, which is said for everyone involved.
LOL the Prince Charming is from the most hilarious SNL skit in a while HERE (http://www.hulu.com/watch/335970). It just started as a joke (seriously, listen to him in the video, the laughing is classic) and kind of snowballed and now he's basically Carver in my head. Kat said to me the other day that she actually pictures him when she thinks about Carver lmao
Was that the fakest amputated limb in the history of fake amputated limbs? I know SPN is on a shoestring budget, but seriously?
I couldn't even keep up with the affronts to canon in this ep. My head was spinning as Bucker and Ross-Leming's would have if they hadn't had them securely up their asses -- and yes! they were the writers of Redneck Rd 666. Notice that they didn't write for SPN again until Kripke bowed out? Think nepotism has anything to do with these two hacks being back (Robert Singer, I'm glaring at you.) I knew this ep was crap but after reading you review, I am befuddled, bewildered ... just I can't even find words ... parallel universe? Is that going to be Carver's big "twist" in 8.23?
There is a big twist coming in 8.23? I vote for Sam isn't actually Sam but is a Sam!clone slowly becoming Sam!like through the power of fluffy hair and brother love!
Also: Dean is still in Purgatory and the death of canon is his torture.
They have written FOUR episodes this season while Edlund and even Glass (as shitty as he is) have only written three. You can't tell me that was not all Bob Singer.
In fact, part of me wonders how much Carver has to do with any of this anyway. I've always thought that Gamble got pushed out mid-S7 and that Singer was the silent puppetmaster for what a mess the back half became. Going by Singer's interviews, his views on the brothers seem completely reductive, and that fits with this one-note characterization going on this season.
I know! Four eps! It just amazes me that it takes two people to write that drivel. Singer has to be responsible.
I hadn't thought about Singer pushing Gamble out, (although it wouldn't surprise me), but I've been thinking recently that I might have been blaming the wrong guy with my:"fuck you carver" Tumblr tag. Carver may just be following Singer's directions. I've never known Singer to give interviews and be so outspoken in previous seasons, have you?
I don't even know what Carver is doing, frankly. We'll see how bad the finale is and if he manages to kill off all the remaining women and minorities lol
I love the joke about bobby resembling you and kat, LOL. Also GOOD buddy was totally the vibe I got off Dean/Benny in the ep. As much as I love and appreciate your recap, however, I feel sorry for you the recapper.
LOL I think Kat and I might have looked WORSE one morning!
Guuuurl. These recaps keep getting later and later because I'm avoiding re-watching lol. I feel like a raging bitch half the time, but there is still enough stuff to make humorous that I keep on keeping on.
It's a testament to your recaps that I can actually find anything to laugh about in an episode as dismal as this one! Sam's hair did look awfully fine in Purgatory tho. I think I'm going with the "nothing happened in this episode except for the wonderfully Wincesty hug". Yep.
Ha! I feel so negative and bitchy sometimes while I'm writing, so I try to temper them with as much humor as I can. One of those laugh-instead-of-crying things lol

Mmmm, yes, this is the best hug in a while and I definitely am all for frottage haha

I figured that it was a skit of some sort, but I couldn't figure it out.
