yeah, to me, Sam is always the kind of guy who you give him an inch, he gives it his all.
I think it's pretty predictable that he wouldn't be there at the plaid motel room, 'cause he left the first time around, and nothing changed; and Amelia would go, 'cause she chased him down from her home to the bar. It's sad that Sam leaves a woman who he loves and who loves him back, mostly because it's the right thing. But it's good that he is back together with Dean.
I cannot help but feel like that season 8 Sam gradually comes back to life; 'cause when he showed up in the premier, he was so washed-out and hardly there; whereas in the last episode, when he talked with Dean about Cas, that was like the most animated I have seen him so far in the season.
