Yes! I've said the exact same thing about Sam going to Jody. His statement that he was completely alone wasn't true. He had Jody! That would have made sense and been an interesting storyline, but then Sam would have had someone to back him up on his state of mind and they wouldn't have been able to create all that tension and drama between the boys.
It seemed like they wanted to reset the boys back to season 1 with Sam living a normal life and Dean wanting to hunt with his brother by his side. Unfortunately, they didn't give us any of the warmth of that relationship, just the bad blood. I hope they don't make that mistake again.
