Not too many icons this week because I'm hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow and have been attempting to clean my house most of the day lol. Hope all my American flisters have a great holiday, and all my non-American flisters eat a shit ton of food in solidarity \o/

-Can we all just agree that the writing is terrible?
-I mean, for a long time.
-And if you loved S8 and are outraged about S9

-With that being said, this one was filler
-Loved Sheriff Sassy, who remains flawless
-Loved her haircut and her Sheriff jacket
-And that she's finding her place in the world again
-And remains uncertain about some things and secure and strong about others
-Plus she ships wincest
-I mean, hello, people! :D
-You could tell the virgins by their eyebrows
-It's true
-Science
-Not sure why they were using their real names
-I expected John Holmes or something
-Glad to see the Death Peen is resistant to LOLCANON
-That sex monologue felt like I was spying on a meeting at Ackles Army HQ
-Why does the fat girl steal the cookies?
-I mean, that bothered me the most about the whole episode lol
-That's probably my ass talking, though

-The stupidest thing was Dean not answering Sam's call
-That was dumb
-The sex scene itself didn't bother me like it did some people
-I'm all for two consenting human adults having sex
-Especially on a show where sex usually involves noncon or monsters
-And how fucking sad is that?
-Low standards, yo
-I found the line about "you're the good dreams" quite telling
-Proof of my theory that Dean clings to/enjoys the small comforts
-Sex/porn/burgers/classic rock/making fun of his little brother's stupid hair
-For small, happy moments in a really shitty life
-We take comfort where we can, and there's nothing wrong with that
-The scene was cheesy because it was badly written as a porn pastiche
-But I didn't see any sort of coercion
-He was fangirling her like Dr. Sexy almost
-Suzy still had the DVDS, which tells me that she perhaps "missed that" like she later says
-People are often shamed into thinking sex is bad, especially if they were in sex work
-And sometimes they go too far into the opposite direction
-And right into the arms of another form of manipulation
-Yes, I mean religion.
-And then someone tells her not to be ashamed
-And that she has provided comfort
-And she (rather enthusiastically) decides to take what she wants
-Which was her choice and again, consent matters
-And only feels some guilt later when she's "punished", which is of course a fear embedded in the act of shaming
-But, as we know, God in this universe is banging strippers in Australia, SO.
-So, yes, awkward writing/pacing and cheesy, but I'm not layering angst on what looked like a good time had by all
-And to people that haven't realized Dean Winchester is an asshole yet...
-Oh, you!
-On a completely shallow note, Suzy was super cute and looked way hot with Jensen
-Back to the Sam Winchester Unconsciousness Tour of 2013
-I was waiting for Jody to die so Zeke heal her as Dean cradled her face, voice breaking
-Sam being dead inside...does that make Sam/Dean necro?
-Another Sam/Ruby parallel!

I'm glad someone agrees with me haha (I hope you do :P). I was getting kind of annoyed at people taking away from the fact that she made a choice and enjoyed something that she said she was missing. This show has a LOT of problematic things about it, especially re: consent, but this didn't read as one of them to me.

The most ridiculous complaint I've read about this episode is that it is racist because Suzy starred in some Latin themed pornos..... really? People get butt hurt for the dumbest shit.

It was totally a parody of a porn movie. I mean, this show has Busty Asian Beauties as one of it's longest running jokes--hardly the height of respectability lol

OMG I thought it was just me who was annoyed that the fat girl went straight to the food and basically ignored the two hot guys.

I liked Suzy. The was totally into it and it was clear (to me at least) that they both wanted and needed sex. Dean is not spending that much time on the road these days so not many chances for random hookups and he's not bringing anyone to the bunker plus, he's worried about Sam. I bet he's been spending some quality time with his hand and their Casa Erotica platinum subscription. Also, this sex scene didn't make me wince. Jensen didn't look like he wanted to run away like he usually does.

I liked Suzy a lot as well. The actress totally played it like she was into it and was over (at least for the moment) about being ashamed for missing sex. Dean was a perv, but that's nothing new lol.

The whole big girl stealing cookies bit almost ruined the ep for me they went for a stupid greedy stereotype with out purpose or context cheaply making her the butt of a joke then if you listen to the dialogue in background she gets chastised for doing it 'again'. At least with Tiny in Folsom Blues the whole 'They're only doughnuts not love' line had context; Dean was trying to insight a fight. All this random stereotypical pop at binge eaters and big people wether they eat as a sub for sex or not, does is highlight ignorance. If Dean is really Mr Ice cream comes in lots of flavours ,Sammy' then let him for once hook up or at least befriend a woman larger than a US 12. The stupid nasty sterotypes can be used as long as there is also a positive representation of a fat person to counter balance the stereotype. I have to say I was so disappointed by that one scene. I always found SPN smarter than that more open minded but aparently not.

My thoughts after I heard Jensen's low, velvety voice read the lines of Dean describing hot sex was " go get a gig as a narrator of some Harlequin Romance books on tape"! Women today have real jobs that often have real long commutes and they could use the um..er...distraction- hehe.

and I still love Dean coz of rainbow slinky's and fan girling over former porn stars is as good as this show lets it get for him.

I agree whole heartedly. I didn't notice the stealing cookies, I have to be honest all my attention was on DEAN and Suzy who I liked. Dean made her feel better about herself and her choices which is more than that silly group did. Any chance I get to see Dean in a lip lock I am happy.

I really liked the actress who played Suzy! Besides the fact that she was super cute, I thought her and Jensen had some good chemistry, and I liked the way she played the character.

I thought the confessions in group were really telling. Sam said his relationships don't end well, and despite Dean's smugness about that, his story was equally sad -- always the adios. Yes, he loves teh sex, but he'd clearly like more.

I think that there was a sense of nostalgia in it for Dean. I mean, he did have that domestic wake-up-with-someone experience with Lisa, and though I think he is very okay with the fact that his place is not in that world, he probably gets a bit wistful sometimes. Also, that moment was a bit poignant after the last episode with bb!Dean having to leave.

I did enjoy this episode (low standard since dog dean afternoon, very, very low) and reading your comments -and some other on all_spn- I'm so glad I'm not un tumblr. Dean was totally fangirling, the porno pastiche was fun and they did look totally hot together.

I love the 'wipe your nose dear' icon, as Jody punching the prim virgin was so funny, she's such a great character! I actually liked most of this episode, especially Dean's 'confession' of course! I like your comment about him clinging to the small comforts and I don't see how there was any coercion at all in the (hot but too short!) sex scene, but people view things differently I guess! The thing that still irritates me is Sam/Zeke, it's been going on too long now and Sam should be a lot more suspicious! And no, it's not going to end well, Zeke's not going to pop out anytime soon leaving Sammy whole and healthy!

I agree, it's as if Dean clings to whatever good stuff he can get. But it's somehow... yeah. I mean, the good dreams in his world... are about a porn star? Somewhere else, in a parallel universe, this would count as the bad stuff. I think. Who am I to know. And yepp, Suzy's a pretty girl!

I really agree with you re: Suzy, and made some similar comments in my own review. They were both of them taking simple pleasure where they could find it - and I really agree with your comment on how telling it was that Dean said to her "You're the good dreams". Most of his dreams are NOT good dreams. In a life full of horror and pain, why wouldn't he take pleasure in beauty and connection where he could find it?
